Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective manual therapy technique, that involves applying sustained pressure into the myofascial tissue in areas of restrictions, to eliminate pain and restore motion.
A very effective form of myofascial release is VooDoo bands. These elastic bands are used to “floss” tissues in areas of restrictions. The bands are typically wrapped around the treatment are, then active and/or passive range of motion is performed for several minutes.
The shearing forces created with movement, restore the gliding of myofascial tissue layers on one another, restoring motion.
This technique is beneficial for anyone experiencing pain and impaired joint biomechanics secondary to tight muscles, fascia, or scar tissue surrounding a joint. Treatment outcomes include improved range of motion (ROM) and mobility, decreased pain with ROM, and increased local blood circulation.
